Paraguay’s Deputy of the Nation Carlos Antonio Rejala Helman made a tweet today morning hinting at a big move towards bitcoin adoption. His tweet comes two days after the announcement made by El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele on 5th June 2021, during the Bitcoin 2021 conference on proposing a bill to make Bitcoin legal tender in the country. Carlos Antonio is well known for the respect he holds for Nayib Bukele.

Carlos AntonioΒ describes himselfΒ as β€œBukele paraguayo,” which means β€œParaguayan Bukele”. He has been a long-time supporter of the El Salvador President. HeΒ also pinned Bukele’s post on TwitterΒ with a message directed at Bukele that reads β€œThanks for your example.”

In his tweet today morning, Carlos mentioned that the country would launch a major project this week that cloud involves Bitcoin and PayPal. He wrote:Β

β€œAs I was saying a long time ago, our country needs to advance hand in hand with the new generation. The moment has come, our moment. This week we start with an important project to innovate Paraguay in front of the world!”

Though not many details are out as of now in media about his announcement on Twitter. He has definitely seen very affirmative in his tweet by using terms like β€œthe real one to the moon” which is often used in the crypto world to refer to the stratospheric price appreciation of crypto assets. He also changed his profile pic on Twitter to β€œlaser eyes” showing his strong support for Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.Β

Laser eye trend is a twitter-based meme that caught on earlier this year as the crypto community began calling for BTC to hit $100,000. People put laser eyes photos to show their strong support for Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.Β

Paraguay’s plan for adopting bitcoin might be very different from El Salvador since Carlos has mentioned Paypal also in his tweet. The company has recently made headlines by allowing crypto paymentsΒ andΒ withdrawals to third-party wallets by its payment portal. Looks like PayPal is going to be involved in the mass crypto adoption in Paraguay.
