Polkadot (DOT) has finally made its place on one of the largest crypto exchanges in the world. Coinbase announced yesterday on June 14, 2021, that Polkadot will be listed on its pro app and the trading will begin from tomorrow Thursday, June 16 at 9 AM Pacific Time (PT) assuming liquidity conditions are met.
DOT will initially be available in five trading pairs: DOT-USD, DOT-BTC, DOT-EUR, DOT-GBP, and DOT-USDT, and the order books will be available in three stages, starting with post-only, then limit-only, and finally full-trading. Inbound transfers of DOT to Coinbase Pro have already started and trading will begin on or after 9 AM Pacific Time (PT) tomorrow.
If at any point one of the new order books does not meet our assessment for a healthy and orderly market, we may keep the book in one state for a longer period of time or suspend trading as per our Trading Rules.

Polkadot (DOT) was started by Gavin Wood, one of the ethereum co-founders and former CTO. Gavin Wood was the one who originally coded the smart contract in ethereum. Polkadot protocol that enables cross-blockchain transfers of any type of data or asset. By uniting multiple blockchains, Polkadot aims to achieve high degrees of security and scalability. It also serves as the protocol’s governance token and can be used for staking to secure the network or to connect (“bondâ€) new chains.
Polkadot is among the top 10 cryptocurrencies in the world with a market cap of $23.1 million, making it an important asset for Coinbase to include in its exchange listings. At press time DOT was trading at $25.36 up by 16% in the last 24 hours after the Coinbase announcement.
On 3rd June this month, Coinbase listed the much-anticipated meme currency dogecoin on its pro app. Crypto investors are also looking forward to Coinbase listing Shiba Inu (SHIB) on the platform. However, there is no official statement or hint given by the company in this regard so far. There is also a petition going on for Coinbase and Robinhood to list SHIB tokens.
