A Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) called ‘AssangeDAO’ is made to liberate the Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. The AssangeDAO is established by a set of cyberpunks who wish to fight for Julian’s rights. As of now, the said DAO has raised $41 million of ETH Tokens, and still, the community is pouring in.
Currently, Assange is fighting extradition against the United States court ruling that overruled the British Court ruling in December. As a result of which, Julian has been barred to stay in London prison since 2019. There are some serious series of charges on Assange following to which he was arrested.
During the U.S. elections of 2016, WikiLeaks some confidential Democratic Party emails. Following this, there has been a dispute with Ecuadorian authorities. He was also found guilty of breaching Bail Act and sentenced to 50 weeks. In 2019, the US Government further charged Assange for violating the Espionage Act of 1917. On January 6, 2021, Assange was denied bail, pending an appeal by the US. Currently, Assange is confined to Belmarsh Prison of London since April 2019 which is considered to be the maximum-security prison of the UK.
According to the sources, AssangeDAO is now the largest JuiceBox Ether collection in history. These ETH donations are to be used in return for JUSTICE governance tokens. As planned, DAO will bid one-of-a-kind NFT produced by prominent digital artist Pak, who once collaborated with Julian Assange on the “Censored” collection. Furthermore, the proceedings gained through these NFT will be used to fund Wau Holland Foundation for Assange’s legal fighting.
Assange is an Australian-born activist and founder of WikiLeaks. Assange gained notoriety and disrepute after he published the alleged act of corruption within the US government.
